Students recognized as National Merit Commended students

On Sept. 25, 45 students here received their letters of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship program.
Over 1.5 million students took the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, and those commended were among the 50,000 students with the highest scores. Roughly 34,000 students are recognized as Commended Students, and the highest 16,000 move on to become semifinalists in the Merit Scholarship competition.
Counselor Bettina Cool said that earning this title is an honor. She said, “These students scored in the top one percent; it’s a very significant academic achievement.”
The following students are Commended students: Lauren Behrle, Kyle Borcherding, Emily Byl, Kelly Casper, Cavya Chandra, Evelyn Chang, Thomas Chen, Yon-Sue Choi, Reid Conner, Nicholas Cooper, Andrew Crowder, Alyson Endicott, Joad Fattah, Amy Flis, Bennett Fuson, Alyssa Garciaserra, Swapnil Garg, Ryan Garner, Michael Gospel, Joseph Helou, Eric Henderson, Sarah Hogarth, Trent Huckstep, Joshua Joseph, Charles Kanieko, Matthew Kanitra, Daniel Kinn, Maria LaMagna, Nichole Landry, Michael Leonard, Betty Lu, Thomas Marvel, Frances Morton, Sophia Paliza-Carre, Molly Pearson, Jennifer Siriwardane, Jarrett Smith, Mallory St. Claire, James Sun, Jaimie Walker, Brandon Wojcik, Emily Wright, Cassie Xu, Michael Zervic, and You Zhou.
