Student One-Acts to showcase student directors’ creativity

This year’s Studio One-Acts will present their first productions of the year from Sept. 18 through Sept. 20 at 7:30 pm. With four short productions throughout the 2008 and 2009 school year, the Studio One-Acts is a series of one-act plays that are directed and performed by students here. This year tickets will be available at the bookstore or at the door Monday through Sept. 19 for $5 each.

The four student directors were allowed to choose their own short plays at the end of the 2007 and 2008 school year. Completely student-directed and casted, the Studio One-Acts are helpful for any student interested in future drama productions or careers.
“I really love experimenting during the rehearsal process. I like being able to pick out the cast and tell the other students trying out what to work on because I know exactly what it’s like,” Barnthouse said.
“The productions this year all reflect exactly the personality of the director in charge of it,” Peterson said.
“It’s better because we get to pick out the plays, and I think we have a better idea of what other kids our age are going to like to watch. Basically, we’ll like the same type of plays. I’m kind of light-hearted romantic, so ‘The Battle of Bull Run Always Makes Me Cry’ is exactly what I would want to watch. I really think the audience will be happy with what they see this year,” Barnthouse said.
